Over 90% of road accidents are caused by human error. These include speeding, using a mobile phone, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving and driving when drowsy.
ADAS – Advanced Driver Assist Systems – is designed to assist drivers and improve road safety by providing warnings and automatic actions to help prevent accidents.
ADAS technologies include;
- Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB)
- Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Intelligent Speed Assistance
- Parking assistance technologies
Following the success of ADAS, many ADAS functions have become mandatory on new cars in many countries across the world.
This is why German Automotive has invested in a Hella-Gutmann ADAS high-performance sensor and calibration system that enables our technicians to calibrate the camera and radar-based ADAS features to the same standards of accuracy as the main dealer workshops.
Once calibration is complete, GA technicians will generate a report as a permanent record of your vehicle performance.
Four of the most important sensors which the GA calibration system will check are:
- Lidar sensor (Light Detection and Ranging)
This measures distances from obstacles and how these distances fluctuate and can be located at the front and/or rear of a vehicle.
- Radar sensor (Radio Detection and Ranging)
This monitors the vehicle's surroundings by measuring distances from obstacles and their relative speeds.
- Ultrasonic sensor
This monitors the vehicle's immediate surroundings and measures the distance from any obstacles.
- Camera sensor and video sensor
These are the so-called image-based sensors that provide important visual information about the vehicle's surroundings, for example, they detect distances and obstacles.
